Air con and heating in the back of a van.

Postby mufcpaul74 » Sun May 28, 2017 9:04 pm

Hi All,

Please could someone advise me on how to get heating and air con into the back of the van. I have a SWB Custom with a bulk head behind the drivers compartment. I really don't want to loose the bulk head. I travel with 6 dogs and this is why I need air con and heating in the back.

Many Thanks

Paul

My Viszlas won't go in the back for this reason, so they travel in the rear seats....... won't yours want a window with some fresh air?

My large dog travels in the back and I removed the top section of the bulkhead. The heat and air conditioning works fine to cover the extra space. (I insulated well for noise and heat).

I dont know how you extend the existing air system into the back with the bulkhead in place; but even if you did you may need dual controls as the difference front and rear might be significant.

Why dont you want to remove the bulkhead, as it might be an easier matter to confront?

I've traveled in the back of mine the other day in the front cage with 2 tripehounds one with me and one in the back cage
It was 25° outside and with the aircon and roof fan on it was cool enough in the back
I have a small peepo hole in the bulkhead where most of the cool air was buimg scuked through
The vents at the bottom of the bulkhead on the drivers side had plenty of cool air coming through
But the passenger seat ones are all sealed off
Could do with the box taking off from under the seat really
Heating is not a problem to a tripehound its the cooling you need to get right

I couldn't completely partition off the front and back if i was carrying dogs, bit tight innit like those immigrants in the shipping container suffocated. :(

I'd cut the partition top half and fit a cage, job done and you can talk to the dogs 8)

Yeah they need to know your there or they get panicki

My youngest hates it in the van that's why I have had to sit with him in the back all the way to bloody Stafford the other week
If he's left on his own he stands up and pushes in to the corners tenses all the way and is bloody lame by the time he gets to the show
Bloody dogs
Bloody ford
Bloody Scotland in a couple of weeks
Sat in the bloody back trying to keep a big smelly dog from getting upset

No no hairy seats
I get enough dog hairs in my bra cleaning dogs a***holes all day
What you need is an prestigious engineering company to sort it out
Insulate it, Hole in bulkhead, windows in the back, electrically operated roof fan, cage door to front and rear and a partition in the middle
Allcock engineering apparently top job :P
Five grand
Cash

Bit of a cupboard to keep your tweed in on the osr and little something to lock one of the back doors open a few inches
And your laughing with your balls out :D
