dashboard light dimmer

Just put a ford focus light switch (easier to find on ebay)in so I can dim the dash board lights,goes saweet.

Thought that feature was already standard in the vans, 2 buttons to the left of the headlight controls on mine.

My uk custom limited has the same switch, some show less auto and i presume dimmer.

So my 2013 Custom has no dimmer either. If I get the switch with dimmer from the focus, is it just plug and play ?
Or is there wiring to be done to get dimmer to work ?

Hey guys,

i tried it with my Transit Custom '14 with a headlight switch from a transit connect. But the dim buttons show no effect.
Also the front and rear fog light wont work any more.

Any suggestions? I noticed my cable going into the switch only has 4 wires, but the switch has 6 pins.

Not much info on newer ford's unfortunately. It seems like there's a secret way to upgrade things. There's a lot more module dependencies and just swapping things doesn't seem to work. Someone needs to spend some time trialing from the base equipment to the limited equipment to see how it all connects. That said though it should be just a simple resistor

Did i figured out this right? If you have 2013 made custom you can simply take lightswitch from focus and you get dimmed dashboard and autolights just like that? And if you have 2014 made custom like i do, it wont work?

News: It worked. You just have to start the engine

Do you have also working autolights now? Or did i misunderstood madmaoris post "auto lights go as well" ? I dont actually care about dimmable dashlights, but auto headlights with taillights would be nice.
