I would have had one of these fitted by these guys when they moved and locked away my OBD port. But as mine is a euro6, it wasn't compatible. Apparently it's only the euro5 it works for. I spent a day in Basildon while they took care of all my security, but they rang me on the day to say the electronic OBD immobiliser wasn't compatible with my euro6, so I had to leave that.

If it was compatible, I would have had this installed 100%. I'm on their waiting list once it becomes compatible.

well that's my point of question?

is it worth the purchase to slow the bas***** down, as I think everyone will agree you wont ever stop them but maybe slow them down.

I have spoke to my local dealer regarding these security issues but in there defence its happening across the range in all manufactures, cars / vans.

I have the tough dead locks on side door and rear doors, are these drivers door locks that people are fitting worth the money??

Now I know you're just out to troll this forum. Having fun?

Anything that delays the buggers and makes them decide to leave my van alone and go and steal yours instead is money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

Well then.. Why would you want it to "arm" itself when you turn the key off ? How many times a day do you use the odb port? You might as well just cut a wire going to it and put a switch in somewhere if your so inclined

What an obtuse reply. It doesn't have a big red rocker switch labelled "OBD isolator" flashing on the dashboard. The relay is hidden somewhere, anywhere under the trim. Maybe the sun visor. Maybe under the floor matting. Maybe to the left of the steering wheel maybe to the right. Could even be in the door lining. Having ascertained the OBD port is disabled, the thieves would first have to acquire the deactivation card by breaking into my house. Then they'd have to know where the relay is located, or spend time trying all and every bit of trim with the freshly burgled deactivation card (assuming I haven't shot them at this point for breaking into my house) in case it's hidden behind.

Also, unless you leave your van running overnight, most van thefts occur when the ignition is turned off, so damn right you'd want it to arm when the ignition is turned off. Cutting the wire = warranty void.

So you use your odb on a daily basis ?

So why switch it on and off every time you put the key in
Pull a bloody wire out put a switch in it will do the same job and cost 50 pence
You just like little beepy gadgets don't you :P

The thieves were disturbed when trying to nick mine. I fully expected them to return to finish the job as my number plate was on a list of 11 found by the police (5 of which they got) so I had the Hykee lock installed the very next day. They returned three days later but were unable to get past the Hykee. So they stole my spare wheel from underneath instead. I still have a van thanks to the Hykee.

The Hykee lock certainly saved my van, I have an amusing video of two scumbags looking confused at my lock before running off, but as more and more Hykee locks are fitted, the thieves may well equip themselves with suitable lock picks for these

My OBD port is hidden, and a dummy one bolted in its place

Deadlocks are a great anti-theft idea, but it becomes a pain physically unlocking every door on the van when you need access several times a day :)

A wise loot once said the best security devices are the ones you make yourself
And In my opinion you are better off just moving the obd plug as alltranaito suggests than spend 100 shekels on this nonsense

And remember
Allcock is never wrong

Nice chat

no need to spend money just remove it.

I took mine out of its home and hid it.....the Ford dealer chap couldn't find it. I know where it is obviously and I can put it back in 10 minutes when required........ it will stop the van being taken but nothing can stop them getting in as we all know.

Spent a couple of quid on these.

i used this

its quick to install and remove if you send it to ford for a service. and leaves the OBD port live but no data so anyone trying to break in will think its a genuine port, as will power their device but will not be able to program a new key with it.

I agree, waste of money, 100 pounds and as bjt says, it is a bit pointless.

The main problem is the door locking barrel, disable it or replace it.

The obd port can be locked or moved or rewired.

one off unique security measures are the best because there's no way a thief could prepare for them.
