Face lift custom

Postby eddied » Mon Jul 10, 2017 9:59 am

Just a heads up if your looking at changing your custom like me, you might want to hold off until end of year as there will be a new face lift custom with new interior and includes synch 3.
I spoke to Evans Halshaw who said its to early to say for definite but should be taking orders in the last quarter for delivery on 18 plate.

A bit blurry, but does that look like an un-grippable and therefore un-spinnable drivers door lock?
Hykee style?

I only ask because I have had good and constructive exchanges with Ford at director level about that since my previous thread asking about it, and they have said they are on the case.

Surely they'll just bang a screwdriver into it and twist?

Not if it's untwistable by having arms which stop it spinning, like a Hykee.

Here's their quote:
"Modern options such as lane-keeping assist, which are designed to reduce driver fatigue, are also available. Owners should have little to worry about regarding Transit Custom security. Standard security kit includes remote central locking, double door locking, high-strength anti-tamper locks and a securely fitted, full steel bulkhead. Two alarms are on offer, one a sophisticated Category One Thatcham-approved system. In the summer of 2016, a pre-collision prevention system with pedestrian detection, side wind stabilisation and road sign recognition system were introduced."

Have to wait and see, but I'm hopeful ;)

That sync 3 unit doesn't look like it'll be an easy retro fit as dash looks a different shape!

Might have to go aftermarket though I'd been waiting off doing that until sync3 but......

Ford Transit 280 SWB,,Year 2008,,2.2,, If it can,t be fixed/repaired/ with a 4 pound lump hammer then it must be an electrical problem.

Lots of videos on you tube for the 2018 Tourneo. Many changes. It looks like the first row of rear seats can be turned around so the six seats face each other. New dash is shown and is completely changed. Door cards are completely new with much better handle design. Lots of other smaller changes like centre console and pockets on the rear of the front seats. Auto air con. The rails for the sliding doors are better design and the front grill and spot lights give it a classy look. It has LED day time running lights running round the whole of each front headlight. I like what I have seen and with sync 3 8" screen and HID lights available, it is a real improvement.

Well, some operators may be a little dismayed that there’s no announcement from Ford about upgraded security. A recent spate of thefts from parked vans has seen some owners complaining that the Transit Custom’s standard locks are too vulnerable to attack.
