Oil Pump 2016

Just for information
My 2016 2.2 with 18500mls had a high frequency (not high pitch) noise coming from the bottom rhs of the engine. I thought it sounded like the power steering pump with air in it or something rubbing a toothed belt. As it is still in warranty i took it to my local dealer and they removed the auxiliary belts to eliminate the aircon and power steering pumps. This did not stop the noise so they investigated further and found that it was the oil pump vanes that were damaged. They replace the oil pump and oil and filter under warranty. I thought his fault was only on the early models?
