Retro-fit kombi seats

Postby mfoobar » Thu Jul 27, 2017 3:52 pm

Hi All,
I'm considering getting a Custom as a replacement for my long suffering Iveco Daily camper. I want to get back down to one vehicle, so want something smaller than the old van.

Questions I have:

- How easy is it to fit the Kombi seats to a plain 'ole Custom? I'm thinking of buying a H2L2 van and fitting windows and the seats. I've seen the seats complete with the floor fittings for sale on eBay. Are there manufacturer fixing points in the under the floor / chassis already for me to bolt the seat fixings to?

- Can you fit the Kombi seats backwards? I'm not thinking for travelling, but just when camped up it would be useful to be able to unclip the seats and turn them around, even if they are not fully secured, but will the feet of the seat still mate with the floor sockets?

In answer to your question, some models have the fixing points.some do not, the only way to tell is to have a look on the van that is going to be converted, if you search back through the forum posts of a couple of years ago , there are posts about the fitting of these seats, and no, they can't be reversed

See topic " Conversion DCIV to second row torneo seats " that should now be listed near this one.

Hi, I have an L1H1 DCIV I'm going to be doing a conversion on and though flipping the rear seat with no bulkhead would tide me over.

I think you may be able to rotate the seat 180 degrees so it faces the back. I'm going to have a go, but the seat is bolted down onto removable rails so it wouldn't be quick to turn round .

I'll let you know.

:)

I've got a DCIV, I'm gonna have a got at this so I'll let you know.

Yes you can, the seat flips round and bolts back in no problem. Hopefully picture attached. Sorry for the delay :)

I've been looking at 18 seat mk8 mini bus to build a camper on and the rear centre seats are clip in and out so if you can get a set with the floor rails that may be an option

Interesting - how heavy is the seat unit? Can imagine it's quite a job to get out & back in.
Presumably you've just unbolted the entire unit from the floor
