Mk 8 display messages

Hi, I have just bought a 2014 reg. Mk8 Transit Custom SWB panel van with eco-tec 2.2 engine. with 59,700 miles on the clock.
When I turn the ignition on, the display reads.......service due and brake pads low.
I have had it fully serviced, the pads are fine, wires to pads all ok but the garage can't turn off the display readings ?
Also maybe unrelated, I can't seem to adjust the digital clock using either methods in the handbook ?
Any help welcomed !
