If they want the van that much they'll get it but certainly replace the door barrel with a quality one (ideally not mass produced  ) then disable the obd port.

And my favorite, i hang 1 of my smelly running socks from the mirror bracket

Why would the fob pack up? I've got a spare key, can get a spare battery.
I can still open the bonnet to add a little juice to open it if the van batteries go flat.
My wife's 5 series that's 11 years old had an update years ago that disabled programming keys via the obd port unless an original key was present. I don't get how bloody Ford haven't done the same thing.
I've also heard recently of scumbags cutting through the drivers door loom and getting access that way, bit like the old vans rear doors. Has anyone suffered this yet?

The fob sometimes gets interference from aliens with barded penis's in intergalactic craft operating anal probes in your area
Rendering the fob temporarily useless
With no key you'll just have to wait till the probing stops could be hours or days
Used to happen to my mk7 all the time :o

I guess the anal probing will keep me busy until the rf radiation dies down then. Not sure about the barbs though, might have to play the postman not the letterbox!

Just had my security update today. Took 40 minutes to download from Ford. They did it when the van went in again for "oil change required" message which I'm getting every 4000 miles. They have updated software again and changed oil and filter, at Fords request no charge to me, so hope this time it has solved problem.

Afternoon gents and gentiles,

I'm picking up a Custom next weekend and looked on Etis and it says mine is due this update. Is it worth it and has anyone had problems? Cant the zoned locking be changed through IDS anyway?

Greg.

I had mine in on Friday, but after testing the ‘update’ today it seems it wasn’t done :?
Checking the BCM software versions in the IDS log from before and after, it’s exactly the same !
Plus now module programming is not available via IDS.
Sounds like it’ll be going back

I don't know cock all about IDS, and I can't test the global unlock as I've cut the wire inside the door which stopped it anyway. You said your reprogram modules isn't available, was that how they gained access to unlock and disable the alarm via the OBD, so that would be a good thing for security but maybe not so good if you want to test or reprogram at home, mine's had the update and I'm not sure what's changed exactly but the door unlock buttons didn't work after the van had been left for some time untill I turned the ignition key on/off but that was what I expected.

I think this operation was standard anyway as my 14 plate does this and has had no update.

They use Etis to update the BCM software, which changes the global unlock config.
My programming issue is sorted, it was a local IDS issue solved ny a reinstall.
The update should disable the rear and dies doors being unlocked via key in door or door buttons unless the remote fob was used or the ignition switched on.
My alarm still functions as it should when the key is used, but all the doors still unlock as they used to...

I don't have it on etis, that's the problem.
Is "17P03" the recall number?

If it doesn't show anything on etis then it isn't a problem surely? Use vin or factory registration
