Topping up break fluid

Postby Wadey » Wed Oct 04, 2017 5:30 pm

Anyone any idea how I get the break fluid from the silly resivoir to the main resivoir ? It's air locked and won't transfer between the 2 iv got the light on the dash telling me it's low but can't seem to get the flluid to transfer
just follow the onscreen instructions and it's fairly idiot proof...trouble is, we keep producing better idiots

It's gravity feed isn't it so just keep slowly pouring it like mk7. Unless the tube is blocked?

Sounds like you may need a bleed kit. Visit each corner and bleed through the nipple, it’s a 2 man job someone needs to pump the pedal while someone bleeds..... a brake fluid change at Ford will include this so it may the easiest way to throw it at Ford to do. Should only be 60/70 quid ish and you get nice new fluid flushed through.

IIRC you need IDS to bleed the brakes, or maybe that’s just to fully bleed them rather than just let a bit of fluid through?

I would definitely be taking it to Ford in light of Mikes post.... as long as it’s just an airlock a fluid change will solve it.... hopefully it’s nothing to do with the master cylinder. Either way, it’s not worth a cheap fix on the brake system.
