2014 transit custom mirrors

Postby bigyinusa » Sat Oct 21, 2017 9:50 am

Hi, Does any one know if it is possible to convert standard door mirrors into power folding. I just picked up a custom trend and wondered if my question was possible.
Thanks in advance for your time and replies.

Trend should have power folding mirrors as standard. Mine does.

Pull the mirror joystick back when in middle position, mirrors will fold. Pull it again, they will open.

Anyone know if power folding mirrors can be coded to automatically fold in when locking the van? Wife’s Freelander does this, very useful. And if so, how to achieve it. I’m too lazy to remember to do it manually using the joystick each time...

Be better to use bjt relay because it is smaller and latches without the capacitor, but use the rest of the info :-)
I'm looking at a Reed switch and diode to see if i can make it fool proof :-)

Think it's just me and bjt, we're engineers you know and like to be at the fore front of invention :P

But for what you want if you look at my post and you see the 2 wires soldered to the electric mirror switch, they link via the relay and are literally just bridged together to act like the switch does when pressed, momentarily pulsed and that sets the mirrors off. :-)

So just use your imagination as to whatever method you can use to achieve this function and it'll work :-)

If an alarm has an output of minimal 1A(most i think have 500ma and state that it isn't too be used to drive a relay) but if you can drive a relay momentarily then just add the relay to your alarm in stead 8)

Loot is it a pulsed negative or positive pulse thats required ? or is the polarity reversed for direction change ?

Nothing, the power i used from the central locking is pulsed one way for unlock and pulsed the other way for double lock.

All you need is an output of your choice to control a relay and both those mirror switch wires go to the relay output pins which are basically bridged :-)
