The Custom is now almost 5 years old, are there any signs that they are going to rust badly like the mk6/7 transits?.

The badge on the front would suggest it'll rust.

My van is just over 4 years old and so far I haven't seen any rusty bits, I expect to look outside one day and see the frilly edges of a 3yo Vito.....waiting patiently!

If you could see inside the chassis rails and sills then it's probably started already  every Ford has rusted why stop now

My van is 2.5 years old and the only place I have seen traces of rust is on the rear door hinges is this normal or should I get it sorted under warranty?

Rear door hinges are an issue, I lube them up when the door needs a drop kick to close, can't see the rust stain on a sh*t blue van though...

The hinges are about 10mm thick
I estimate it will take about 20 years until they will no longer be serviceable due to rust

Mine was a bit stiff
So I lubed it up and pulled it hard
All good now

Yup lubed-up hinges here too.

Only rust I had was my lower steering column bearing....

Did have all the door handles freeze-up last week.....quite funny

I'll be sealing mine in this summer, good clean underneath then some form of protection.

I'll bet that a liberal dose of non corrosive maintenance spray in the areas you don't see will help keep the humidity off them :-)
