Could it be a problem with the van not charging the key rather than a fault with the key itself?

That’s what I said to ford could it be the transponder in the roof lining but they think not . They said it mite be my aftermarket immobiliser interfering with it . But it’s been ok for 10 months

Ford should have ids and they should be able to try and replicate when the fob doesn't work, they should be able to see it in ids data logger if it isn't sending a signal when the key is pressed.

You should consider turning off any aftermarket immobilizer just to see if it is possibly interfering.
They should replace the fob to try also depending on live data.

Shouldn't be selling you a new fob for 200 pounds then scratching their heads.

Does your van have two batteries? I had the same problem when the second battery was on the way out on our van. Replaced battery problem cured.

Had the fob tested so it shows it’s sending a signal
