Door lock wiring info

Postby Locks guru » Sun Jan 07, 2018 7:47 pm

Had my van broken into Xmas day, seems I accidentally left it unlocked, even though I was sure I had locked it seems I forgot after going out to do someone a favour.

What I really want to do is pick up a voltage (i will be using high value resister in line for signal detection), either to detect the doors locked or a pick up the door locking/unlocking that will send a radio signal to a monitoring unit in the house that will indicate if the doors are unlocked, locked or open.

Also I am thinking of fitting extra extra door switches to detect and set off the alarm if some scumbag tries to prize any of the doors before they do any damage.

If you read the folding mirrors thread it should help.

You'll need diodes or a bidirectional circuit because the voltage flows in both directions on the same wire :-)

Don't put the diode in line with the wire by cutting the wire or you'll stop the locks working, instead have a fly/spur.

It's in here somewhere
