The missing pins gave the following faults:
Drivers window inoperable
Mirrors would not adjust, but would fold when switch activated.

Plugs were cleaned up by prising off the white terminal cover, then using a fibreglass pencil and some switch cleaner.

No need to remove all of the dash to do this job, just the lower right hand panel. The door loom(van side) runs to the pillar over the top of the wheel arch, you need to feed this through a bit once you have disconnected the loom socket from the door pillar. The plugs have a tab that needs depressing whilst levering them out of the loom socket.

New door loom is fitted from inside the door and fed into the pillar area.
Take a pic of the routing before stripping it out of the door. The clips are single use.

New door loom will cost about £106.00 from the main dealer.
Can of switch cleaner is £5.99 from Maplin.

Had the same problem with my transit mk8 sport model 64 plate. Went in cos indicator wasn’t working on drivers side wing mirror. Stripped door panel off and removed the rubber between the door and where the harness goes into the dashboard. Located there is 2 plugs, one grey and one black, they have a total of 23 wires coming into the door. They have very small pins n them. There has been signs of water getting in somehow and 3 had snapped, rang ford to see if they did a repair kit, answered back no. Said you have to buy all of wiring loom. Ok. £1,400 for loom, yes £1,400 yep they said. To fit involves removing all of dashboard, not happy at all. So people be aware, if you have the same problem. Garage said your better looking for a scrapped van and removing the 2 plugs with about 8” of wiring on, then soldering them on to yours.. £20,000 i paid for the van and after only 4 and a bit years i have this problem.hope this helps everyone who has a similar problem.

Strangely enough, if you can identify the plug then some of them are available on the Internet, the transit ones seem to be Peugeot :?

You buy the connector and the pins separate.

But yes it is easier to do the above.

I did a mod to my van and there are empty pin slots in the loin connected through the door. I got a tiny drill but and drilled through a couple and just fed the wire straight through, they're is no reason that you'd need to have the plug as quick release, in theory there's no reason that the connector should ever be disconnected, and even in that 1 occasion you'd have no problem snipping the wires and soldering them back together anyway, extra half hour.

I could have no qualms about Catterline drilling and feeding all the wires through the connector.

Bloody ford or Peugeot :P

Hello. Just butting in ! Could you PM me the pinouts too?
I've just been in there fixing broken wires for indicator and "door closed" signal to central locking.
They were both at the bottom of the multiplug and luckily fairly obvious which was which.
While I was at it, I noticed that all of the wires were surprisingly stiff for a 5 year old vehicle, and the insulation was cracking on several wires.
Poor quality wiring. Design fault???
Luckily my multiplugs were still clean and dry, in spite of the seal not sitting properly.

I know this is probably too late now but just want to say one thing I found with one of the works vans.

The drivers window wouldn't work but the passengers one did.

On the main plug that goes to the switch itself, theres a skinny white compared with the rest. There should be 12v on this with the ignition on. If there isn't as a "free" fix you can just jump the 12v from the main feed on this plug to that pin until you can do a proper repair.
