Help choosing a new custom

Postby rick0161 » Sun Feb 04, 2018 4:06 pm

Hi, i will be buying a 2017 custom dciv very soon and wanted to ask if there are any models i should stay clear of and any other buying tips would be good too.

i was thinking of getting a Limited 170ps auto but not sure what the auto box is like on a van

Are all recent vans AdBlue ?

any help is appreciated, thanks Rick

Yes, all recent vans are Adblue - All Euro 6 from ~end of 2016

The chrome strip in the bottom grill under the front bumper is the only tell tale sign as far as I know from the outside.

I have the 130 L2 DCIV - it's good so far, apart from the oil change light coming on too soon.

Hi I have a limited dciv 170 auto 6000 miles now and enjoy every minute/mile purchased as I have a back problems and it’s helped me a lot. only fault I know with the limited is the rear floor is 10mm mdf after kneeling on the floor mine cracked and gave way, took back to dealers it took 2x weeks to get one no cost to me they even supplied a loan vehicle. I covered this with 6mm ply to spread any loads. I am still running on the original tank of adblue, I enjoy driving my van to the family A6 avant. Good drive in the snow and it’s quick, insurance is more expensive, I would buy another one great van hope this helps

A heads up.

The auto strongly limits the amount you can tow.
Check fords brochure.

If mine were auto I wouldn’t be selling it. Lovely van in all respects apart from the terrible clutch and flywheel. It makes low speed driving in traffic really tiring. I would get an auto over a manual every day.
