transit 2014 P0046,P0047,P0048

Hi, I am having an issue with ford transit custom 2.2 2014 - The engine light come up, i lost power. After the scan there are 3 problems P0046,P0047,P0048 which comes to the same stuff. I want to check the boost pressure sensor but I don't know ( and I cant find any details on internet abut this) where is it, where it is located ? I found one website which recommended to follow the process as follows:

Inspect the turbo/super charger system with close attention to the solenoid valve and waste gate (could be be inoperative or stuck)

Inspect the wiring on the boost sensor and related wiring for loose connections, damaged wiring, or faulty sensor

Check the boost pressure during operation and driving for normal range of 9 to 14 PSI pressure (ensures that pressures is not erratic or too high)

Inspect the turbo charger for damaged blades, wobbly shaft rotation, worn bearings, oil leaks into turbo boost side, and correct control valve or waste gate operation

My father mechanic said that few things on this doesn't make sense... As I am not mechanic I cant say anything and that's why I register here to check with you guys.
Definitely I would like to know where is this boost sensor located as I didn't find any pictures showing it.
Please let me know if you know anything on this ?

The turbo is a variable vane geometry turbo and it has an electronic actuator which do fail, the fault codes all say that there is a circuit fault so the actuator needs checking and then possibly the wiring from it to the pcm.

Thank you for that..

Would you still try to check the boost sensor ?
Does anyone know where it is located ?

You can check but the fault is with the boost controller which in this case is the turbo actuator. The boost reading is high which means that the boost sensor is showing a reading albeit incorrect.

Check the turbo and see if the rod moves when it is revved hard.

If you use ids diagnostic you can test the turbo and also read sensor outputs in datalogger.

Did you manage to fix this? I've got the same problem.

An update:

My problem ended up being the Electronic Turbo Actuator. The rod to the turbo moved easily. I tried a cheap Chinese copy actuator which got the van running again but it clearly wasn't calibrated to the turbo charger and I had very little torque at low rpms.

I got the original actuator refurbish by ECUTesting. They said they couldn't find any fault with it implying that the fault was intermittent. On my instructions they rebuilt it anyway. I re-fitted the actuator and the van is now back to normal and I now have a lifetime warranty on the actuator.

Hi, I have exactly the same codes on my 14plate custom 2.2

Today Ford have diagnosed it as a turbo with an estimate to carry out the work at £1300.00. I'll be getting a second opinion as they were very vague in their justification (basically check wiring to pcm - all ok therefore failed turbo). There weren't any technicians there when I picked the van up so I'm hoping to speak with one tomorrow on the phone.
