Transit custom Euro 6 M-Sport Chip

Postby Bramptonnozzers » Sun Apr 15, 2018 10:52 am

Hello all, first post so go easy on me.
Purchased an M-Sport transit custom last year and slowly realising it is just an expensive van. However I have to keep so I am looking for a bit of extra oomf. Has anyone got any Performance chip recommendations? I know remapping/tuning is best but for various reasons and speed of removal a Chip is looking more favourable. Any thoughts/recommendations muchly appreciated.

Thanks Dr Death, checking vantuner’s website I can only see the remapping option. This really is not an Option for me, albeit the best solution for performance. Cheers

A plug in tuning box won't be as good as one of Martyns remaps

Completely agree but I’ve had a couple of warranty bits done on the engine since new last year so I don’t fancy giving them an opportunity to refuse to cough up. For this reason a chip would give me some benefits with less chance of detection.

You need to have a chat with Martyn, but I'm pretty sure that one of his remaps can't be detected with ordinary dealer software.
Also, in the event that they re-set the ECU for any reason, and you lose the remap, Martyn will re-tune it to your specific remap, as he keeps all of the copies :)

Did you get it mapped? As I’ve also got a m sport and have been having on going engine issues but wanting to get it mapped but not giving ford and excuse to void the warranty

No Mikey, for the same reason you haven’t, mine was picked up new from the dealers with injector faults which took them months to put right. They put it on fandangled diagnostics apparently and it now has supadupa injectors (standard but new probably). Then the ‘change oil now’ light popped up, back to the dealers who said the dipstick was too long and it needed a shorter one, mmmmm months with not enough oil in the engine, that will help matters, they was going to keep the van 3 weeks while a shorter dipstick arrived, er think not. This wasn’t the ‘Ford Experience’ I was looking for having shelled out nearly £40,000 on a pretty van. Due to the frequent visit to the spanner men I cannot risk them finding a remap until the warranty has expired, 23 months and waiting. In the meantime it will have to be a quickly removable chip. If you get any recommendations let me know.

Did you speak to Martin at Vantuner to see if he does a map that can’t be detected

Just ring him during office hours, and talk to the man himself. I absolutely guarantee that he doesn't bite, and is very happy to talk about his work, and your van, and whether the two are compatible :P
Seriously, he's a nice guy to talk to, you won't be sorry that you did, but I'm pretty sure that he won't tune the van if it has ongoing injector issues anyway :(

Trialing one of these on another vehicle.

I am the biggest detractractor of tuning boxes and have always remapped everything..... the vehicle in question has a 5 year warranty and requires the ecu opening to tune so I tried this.

I must say I’m very impressed so far, love the adjustability and of course the 20 minute removal for dealer visits.
