fuel sender unit

Postby pip.t » Mon Apr 16, 2018 10:16 pm

Hi I:m about to fit a MV AIRO diesel night heater to my 2013 Transit custom and will need to drop the tank for access to fit the fuel drop tube supplied with the heater into the tank. Have read about a spare access point that can be cut on the sender unit to avoid drilling into tank or unit. Has anybody fitted one of these and or bought the kit required?? Appreciate any help/ideas. Pip.t

Thanks for your reply and i have purchased the fuel sender kit from butler technic and gonna fit it next week. Its part no. 23089 and it is listed for an erbespacher so it may need an alteration on the fuel line to the pump but they both look very similar.

Mine came today, think I'll extend the pipe as my level is always quarter or less  but I could save all that hassle and just buy a plastic T piece and connect it to the existing fuel pump, unless someone can confirm out deny whether it is likely to cause running problems?

Hi Loot don't take this as gospell but i don't think you want to tee off the main fuel line as i recon you'd need the ignition on to run the vans fuel pump plus i recon that you are probably going to be using a in board battery?? so for the stat/programmer to operate the fuel line pump you need a separate supply from your on board battery, Im only presuming but would also like it confirmed by anyone who has done similar

What I meant was that I have the heater fuel pump plugged in etc but the 2 pumps share the fuel line via the T.
The engine or heater won't be used at the same time mostly but my main concern was if they were, would the heater pump cause starvation in the engine fuel pump? Would it be noticeable? Do I fit a relay so that the engine fuel pump cuts the power to the heater fuel pump?
