Chipping your Transit Custom

Postby DIGGER73 » Sat Jun 02, 2018 6:49 am

Has anyone ever chipped their Custom? I have the 155ps diesel version and i'm just wondering about the pro's and con's of doing it. Kind regards.

Try the ‘search’ function and put ‘Vantuner’ as the keyword.

I always remapped my previous Merc Vito vans and never any regrets whatsoever as it really does improve driveability and improves fuel economy . I am toying with a remap on my custom 170 but as there is 2 yrs warranty left i am a bit reluctant as if the van develops a fault then i wont be covered and luckily i didnt map it as my turbo failed 2 weeks ago on 14,700 miles :(

I added a DTUK chip to my 170... drives so much smoother. Pickup and fuel economy is tonnes better also

I spoke with Adrian Flux, to add a chip to my insurance would cost another £70 ish quid, £30 of that is for admin, what admin, our insurance docs are online!! What a rip off.

The online facility isn’t free, they have to pay for it and the person you spoke to on the phone probably gets paid too

Mine was remapped. My new truck has the plug in module from tdi tuning.... If you have warranty the plug in box is an option. Not as good as a bespoke map on road obviously but at least it’s removable in 20 minutes for dealer visits.

On Polish Ford Forum I found diagram for chipped 2,0 EcoBlue engine. Power on engine 178 PS, torque 461 Nm (340 lb/ft). 1 KM = 1 PS ( Pferdestärke).
It wasn't Custom, I think it was bigger Transit version - because of low max. speed (high total gear ratio).
