Postby glenandemm » Fri Aug 10, 2018 3:53 pm

when i buy a custom hopefully next few days i'll be transferring all my window cleaning gear over out my mk7 but as i use a leisure battery for the system will my durite inteligent split relay charger work in a custom or will i need some other type of split charger as i believe the customs have a special alternator?

looking at the build spec for the custom im possibly gonna buy tomorrow it says it has the standard duty alternator, does that mean it doesnt have a smart alternator?

No, it doesn't mean that! The "standard duty" alternator can deliver a smaller maximum current than the "heavy duty" one. Normally this is only important when used in combination whith heavy electric appliances, like power converters.

Just to update on this, I bought the van at the weekend and fitted my durite split relay and its been spot on, charging constantly at 14v and battery seems bang on, the vans a 2015 2.2 limited 125 don’t think its got an eco mode that I can see so maybe that’s why it’s working fine with the euro 5 engine?

Hi mate just to let you know I’ve had this van coming up 2 years now and still using the durite split relay no issues, I know people say you should use a b2b charger but all I can say is mines spot on?

Can you confirm the durite model number you used?

I'm thinking of this one
