wanted automatic pickup if there is one out there, ?

I really fancy a pickup to customise, only thing is it MUST be auto, don't really care what engine as long as it's good, diesel would obviously be my first choice but anything considered, let me know if you know if they actually exist too as I have heard there are some but never seen one myself,
I want a few transit autos by the end of the year I love them, I'd like na torneo too in auto, if one comes up, let me know what ya got! willing to do work but prefer a bit of mot and tax, and engine/gearbox must be good

they do exist but are very rare - there was a silver auto flareside on ebay a while back

let me know if you see another, I really like the little flairside ones too,! I wish I had the gear and guts to buy a manual and convert it but I'm sure it would be a tricky job, I would love to put the 3.1 isuzu lump in one as I have had a few of those and they have loads of power and good economy, just to see what it goes like! but the transit engines are fine, that's why I love them! I'd love a crew cab ideally but any pickup to make my own and customise, just a shame I can only drive auto on road,

yes! but it's not really one for me if i'm honest, don't like the extended windscreen! bet it'd cost a fortune if it broke!

yes but it's beyond me as it's harder to make a man into auto than auto to man, and I think it'd be ridiculously dear, plus finding a good gearbox etc not easy, I don't know anyone who'd do it at a reasonable price etc, garages are a ripp off and at 60 pounds an hour milking it

Generally speaking, if you fit a similar engine (from a Ford) that has an autobox
it should only cost you the sort of money an engine swap costs.

Someone that would do it, err, um, well.
I'd suggest you knock on a few doors at whichever college
apprentice mechanics go to for that part of their training.

If you are lucky, an instructor might take it on for practical experience for his students.
Or he may know of students who would be interested in picking up some readies.

Failing that, ask around at garages if any of their apprentices are interested.

Engine hoists aren't that expensive to hire.
The rest is tool box tools.

At the end, you have an engine and box to sell.

There a Ford engine and autobox here.

that engine looks shot!!! I'd not be able to gamble all that time and money on that only to pull it out and start again!!!!

Do you know a saying that starts "never judge a book . . ."?

There's another rule that says never fit an engine until
you've had the sump off and Plastigauged the bearings.
And checked the compression.

Or if you want to cut corners, at least start it up
standing on it's sump.

The oil in an automatic box should be clear and not burnt.
The filter is worth changing while the box is out
which should let you clock the inside.

Apart from that, I wasn't recommending that lump
just showing it as an example.

There have been a few engines and boxes in cars over the last 15 days.
eBay listings

I daresay two or three puckups with auto boxes
will turn up at the same time if you wait long enough.
Other than that, if a man is keen to sell his pickup,
he may well consider swapping engine and box for you,
at a mutually advantageous price.

Any rod clubs your way?
You might get one with a silky smooth V8, with auto.

I've just bought back a 2.3 16v LPG Scorpio engine with auto box thats outlived a Scorpio and two Transits!

Its been in a Mk3 and a Mk5 and doesn't appear to have taken them long to fit/remove each time

Might be quicker doing a conversion rather than waiting for one to turn up?

Thank you for looking but that's 7k with vat and I am hoping for a proper auto like a mk5 not a durashift as they are not very good and roll back on hills even in gear, also I want it for pleasure not work so not looking to spend too much
