old Diesel transit engine... (196? -197? -maybe?)

Postby hearse » Wed May 15, 2013 1:24 pm

Hi Guys,

I took a phone call from a lady the other day who had a mystery engine in her garage. As i am in to all things classic car and own a couple i agreed to go pick it up site unseen... You never know it could have been something I was interested in! I own Jags and Daimlers and was hoping it may be a Jag / Daimler lucky find.

The engine is a Ford Diesel, its got all kinds of bits still attached, what looks like pumps and hoses. It also has a green rocker cover with a breather. The oil filter is a cartridge type rather than spin off and it turns freely. My guess is its a Transit engine?

I am not sure if Transit owners want old engines to fit to old vans or if you guys say good riddance to them! I live Nr Newbury in Berkshire on the Hampshire border, if anyone wants such an engine.

If i get any responses i can post pictures, but if no one wants it i'll just weigh it in!

Cheers

Si

Ignore the torque converter that's from a Hearse and the front cross member thats also Daimler Hearse! Look only at the engine! :D

Im not an expert on them... but I think it may be a 2.4 york engine - something doesn't look quite right though!

Oh and its missing an injection pump
