night heater

Postby jonnyivy » Tue Oct 18, 2016 6:30 pm

Hi folks,
just bought this mk7 transit and its an ex- eon van.
Inside the rear there is a heater system which I gather would be to keep the engineers warm while they worked in the back (workshop).
Its powered by the diesel from the tank,...so there's a small pump,.. a thermostat and a blower.
Anyone know if its worth selling and if it would be worth the hassle of dis-connecting it ??
Maybe some members here would buy it for a camper conversion ?

Deff worth selling IF it's complete and working... eberspacher diesel heaters often fetch £300/£400 on eBay in working condition...

search out the model (usually on label on side of unit) then search sold items on eBay for an idea of value

yes its still working,.. there's a switch on the dash to fire it up,... there's no broken parts as far as I can see,... there sure is a label on the side,... J. Eberspacher Esslingen,...Airtronic,...2.2 kw....
Never thought it would be worth anything,... well its not worth anything to me ....
Thanks for that info...

Try it , it should run on high until up to temp then drop down on to low . There should be no or little smoke from exhaust. Its getting to time of year wher they make more money.I'd keep it personally.

I will try it out, see if it does what you say,... the thermostat looks good too,.... I'm just wondering how big a job it will be to remove it,...I only keep / transport lawntractors and mowers in the van so not much use.

On another note it also has a secondary alternator mounted perfectly under the original on the bottom of the engine,... this is to run a converter to feed the 220v sockets mounted at the back of the van. I'm going to disconnect this as well as I dont want it either. Need to look see if these are desirable parts too ....
