Do all mk7 have an auxiliary battery?

Postby Surfunitone » Tue Mar 12, 2013 6:13 am

Also are the batteries connected via a charging relay? If I connect an inverter to the aux will it drain the main battery?

I have ps110 2.2

From what I understand as its been mentioned on here a number of times, is that its only the rear wheel drive Transits that have dual batteries, and they are fitted via a split charge relay

As I understand it, when the ignition is OFF the aux and main batteries are separated by the split charge relay so that you can run auxiliary items like interior lights, radio, etc. without the risk of running the main (starter) battery flat.
So,in answer to your question, if you connect an inverter to the aux battery you will not drain the main (starter) battery.

Not all of them.

Only if specified as an extra. Even limited and Chav spec only have one as standard.

I had an ex BT Mk6 and the batterys where just connected in parallel, I take it this was a different set up than the one you mention above. :? :?

Yes the mk7 setup has a disconnect relay that separates the batteries at key off. The Mk 6 setup was just two batteries permanently linked together.
