The new custom so far

Postby miniminus » Wed May 01, 2013 8:06 pm

Hi all having finally took delivery of the new custom 2 weeks ago i am pretty impressed so far. I dont seem to be having the fuel filling problems like some which is good. I have covered 500 miles so far and still feels very tight and no where near as powerful as my old 260swb 140, hopefully this will improve as i went for the 155 so fingers crossed in a couple of thousand miles it will improve. Mpg so far is only around 28 which i do hope also improves.

Only thing I have noticed is it sounds alot more tractor like at low revs than my old one which I am not so keen on. The overall finish on the inside and outside is a massive improvement on the old one just maybe too nice for work.

Got new wheels fitted today by Projex that I think look nice compared to the standard limited alloys it was delivered with. Here is a pic see what you think

Hi I have found my 290/125 as good if not better on mpg compared to my 280 I have done 3000 miles. Other good points:

Cab noise reduced
Faster through box
Better road handling.

Bad points: Fuel filling
Day lights
Knocked about in wind more

Well i had mine for 3 weeks now,
Came from the 174 hk vw (ihave had 3 off these) which gave a lot of expensive bills.
The custom is a lot les noise and more space evrywhere.
Its not so fast ( 155 hk) but fast enough.
One stupid thing- no remote for the webastoheater ??? Come on its 2013.
One thing i have some probs with is driving slow in the city..it seems to be dificult to start whitout "humbing" because of the speder.
It has a kind off slow point around 1300 rpm and then by 1500 it comes very fast back.
The sync-system is perfect when you lean to prnounce the names in the american way.
One thing i miss is a cupholder in the center of the dashboard, so i wont spill Coffee on the steeringwheel.
The roofrails are genius why didnt anyone think of that 20 years ago.
My conklusion so far. The ford is a cheeper, bigger better driving, (exept i city linedriving) but has a few designfails.
But my 18 inch summerwheels have not arrived yet :-(

Sorry about my english im from denmark.

Nice choice of wheels. The standard 16" alloys on the Custom are vile, much nastier than the stock 16" alloys I have on my Mk 7. They are one of the main reasons why I went for the Sport with its 18" rims.
The best mods are the ones you don't see

Sorry but not liking them Alloys...Not sure they even better than the Standard Limited Alloys to be honest...
As for the Wheel Arches...less said the better...just something everyone has got to overlook...
