Transit Immobiliser

Hi,

I have been on the search for a engine for my transit. i have found one at a salvage yard. the engine is in a stolen recovery van so no keys, but i need to hear the engine running before I take it.

I can turn it over, but it wont fire. Is there anyway of bypassing the immobilser as the electrics around the stering column have been pulled apart. there is juice pumping through, but i think the glow plugs are not heating up as i dont get the light on the dash, is this to do with the immobiliser??? The light in the headlining is flashing.

its on an 'M plate' i need it to go into my 'R 97'

Depending on the age of the Transit you are messing with they didn't have glow plugs on the later engines, mine is a '98 and no glowplugs, It may be the PATS introduction date that the glowplugs were stopped but for the exact dates another will have to give you that info. You need the key the van is supposed to have to start it, however you can bypass the PATS on the van you are trying to start, if you search on here the info together with a pic IS on here....must admit I am a little surprised that it hasn't been removed but it isn't so go search

No glow plugs on any Di, so no glow plugs from 1986 untill 2000.

a later engine will fit just take the gubbins off the back of the pump

glow plugs? the van/engine you have now doesn't have glow plugs none of the Di's do

I believe the Immobiliser stuff is fitted to the fuel pump. I may be wrong but there is probably a way of disconnecting it.

it's very easy to take off - you'll see when you get to it - remove the steel plate from the back - cut the soleniod wire as close to the rim module as possible - put your existing solenoid wire to the solenoid on the new pump - it's bypassed -

If it's an M plate, it won't have a Remote Immobiliser Module (RIM) fitted

early 95's had a black plastic cover fitted over the stop solenoid, smack it off and put your own live to the solenoid and go from there.

If it's cranking over.....are you sure it's getting fuel?

Its turning over no probs and i have undone the fuel pipes to the head and there is plenty of juice running out when i crank it. there just isnt any firing going on.

Another question, will i have any probs putting this engine in a 97 model. I mean is there any adjustments that i need to make it work or is it just a straight swap? they both have the banana manifold everything looks the same, but is there any electrical changes in the years???

the engine is same the pump will be different, it will fit, there is nothing to stop it starting only the solenoid on the pump but if you are getting fuel at the injectors thats working

o right, so y do you think its not starting?? they said it was still running when they found it. all the wiring underneath is a mess, but i have manage to get the ignition lights on, but i dont get the little orange light come up for the glow plugs, which i now know they dont have. any ideas?

The engines are direct injection so do not require glow plugs.
