Would it sell....?

Postby Tankpants » Wed Mar 15, 2017 10:58 pm

Hiya,

Have a Mk 4 transit panel van. Medium roof, long (I think) wheelbase. 1997 model with 80k miles on the lock. Cam belt went the other day so selling as a project. MOT till June.

Is that the type of think that would sell on this forum?

Cheers.

Haven't taken any yet. Just trying to gauge whether to bother ebaying it or just scrapping it.

Why not just replace the belt, straighten the pushrods and carry on using it?

It's getting on to be honest. 20 years old now so rust setting in. Time for a younger van.

1997? = mk5
80,000 miles = "young engine" especially if it's been regularly serviced.

location and pics with reg no visible would help.

with the reg no we can look up the old mot failures to see how much welding was necessary :)

It's an R reg. which is 1997 I think. Happy to be corrected to Mk 5.

80k Miles is genuine. It's actually my Dads van & he's had it serviced every year. Think he's had it from a year old approx.

Will try and post pics this weekend. It'll need welding again around arches for next MOT by the looks of it.
