******* central locking

Postby fraudtransit » Fri Apr 21, 2017 8:21 pm

OK guys, need a bit of help/advice please.

The central locking on my 2010 Mk7 is playing up. Horn honks when I lock it (either with fob or key) suggesting one of the doors isn't closed properly. But they're all fine.

I've searched on the forum and ealsewhee and found quite a lot of suggestions and advice but nothing's worked. Checked wiring connections at sensors on side door etc but no luck. Looks like I'll have to take it into a dealer to get it scanned, but before I do has anyone any bright ideas as to what it could be.

Ta :D

Try cleaning the contacts on the side loading door(s).
Do both the pins on the door and the plate on the pillar.

mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Should have said, I've cleaned the 3 spring-loaded pins on the inside of the side door and the corresponding plate it makes contact with, and checked to make sure that the wires haven't become disconnected.

I'll take a look at the rear door looms tomorrow

Thanks

Mine did the same. It was the twist knob to lock the SLD from the inside/to prevent the opening from inside. if its not in right position, it honks, even though the door locks fine...

Tried the twist knob and checked out the rear door looms for dodgy connection but no luck. So it's time to get screwed by my Ford dealer  Thanks for the advice guys

Have checked the loom where it goes from the body into the rear doors for severed wires inside the plastic cover.

No, that's a thought. Is it a known problem?

Yep very common for the wires to break there due to constant opening and closing of the doors. N

This happened to me, the dash said that the rear doors were not closed.

I checked all the wiring which was OK.

Finally I bought a second hand rear door locking mechanism, fitted it, cured the problem.

Very common and that's what was meant by checking the rear door loom

For me the rear door 3 pins causes this sometimes. But it is easy to detect (also 2010 Mk7) that at least my rear door doesn't lock that time.

So for me it has been, lock - honking alarm - walk around the car checking which door is still open - and it has always been the rear side door.

Cleaning the contacts has helped me.

Well I tried all the suggestions with no luck guys; thanks anyway. We're away in the van (it's a camper) shortly so took it to a Fraud dealer last Saturday and the rear door lock is buggered. I've not managed to get a replacement lock s/h so it's going back next Saturday for a new one to be fitted
