Mk 6) TDDi or TDCi which is which ?

Postby ake » Fri Mar 25, 2011 9:01 pm

The Mk 6 Transit was available as both TDDi and TDCi depending upon the engine output

TDDi

FWD - 2.0 75ps 85ps 100ps
RWD - 2.4 75ps 90ps 115ps 120ps 125ps

TDCi
FWD - 2.0 125ps
RWD - 2.4 135ps

The main differance is that the TDDi uses a rotary pump and mechanical injectors, and the TDCi uses a high pressure pump, a common fuel rail and electronically controlled injectors.

It is very important that the TDCi models are fitted with the correct Ford fuel filter to prevent damage to the pump or injectors

My van has had a replacement engine. How can I check what engine they actually installed? Are there obvious visual difference or does anyone have pictures to id the two variants?

If you have electrical wires going to the injectors, then it's a TDCi :D

The engines aren't easily "switchable" so you're unlikely to find that the original has been swapped for the other type

PS is almost, but not quite the same, as BHP

It's close enough to use as a guide though :D

They stopped at the end of the Mk6 production run in 2005/6.

All Mk7's are TDCi, but a different engine, and a more reliable fuel system.
