Durite split charge relays

Postby bulls in transit » Fri May 19, 2017 3:34 pm

Does anyone know the affect of disconnecting 2nd battery whilst leaving split charge relay/wiring in situ.
I.e.will the main battery keep its charge,or will relay 'see' it as 2 nd battery needs charge and drain main?

Should be fine just disconnected (make sure terminal for second battery is well insulated just in case) as it won't be able to actually put any charge into the second battery (If you want to make doubly sure just disconnect the earth as well) .

Just disconnect the earth...no loose live cables then and ooen circuit so split charge cant charge 2nd battery

Cheers for replies, echoes what I've done, looks like main battery has just reached its "sealed until dead" life then, didn't want to fit new one thinking I'd left/caused a drain.
