Postby rottie_007 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 9:46 pm

knowing what a mine of wisdom you guys are I was wondering if anyone knew what had become of either of my old vans,
I remember the landliner being bought by a bloke who said it was to be his motor caravanning magazines latest project (but never heard any more)
and the mk2 short wheelbase CI I sold to a chap called Carl, but didnt have the funds when it was moved on..

reg was BFX 960T if you have this and want to sell it I would be very interested..

many thanks

Just found a post from Rottie on retrorides with pics of this CI Motorhome and recognised it immediately as our old family motorhome.

We got this from new, my dad picked up cab from transit factory in southampton and drove it around for 3 months to save car tax on the conversion, which was then done by CI also in southampton IIRC, it was originally brown with auto gearbox (as we bought cab seperately we could have any spec, and my mum wanted an automatic). We had an accident in Wales in the early eighties - a mini came flying round a bend straight into the side of us, and insurance wrote it off, but we got CI to repair it anyway, and kept using it for many more years, we used to store food/drink in the overcab bunk (to save money away), which eventually gave way and my dad fixed!

We went on loads of family holidays with my 3 siblings around the UK and europe, and had great fun, when I had kids I got the closest I could get to it so our kids can have the same memories - CI has been bought by Trigano, but still make vans, we actually got the rollerteam branded version (which is identical to the CI CARIOCA), on a transit cab.

Some pics attached.
