engine not revving over 2k

Postby denzul » Fri May 19, 2017 9:56 pm

Hi can someone please help before i loose my mind :-
The van is a transit 2.2tdci 2012 fwd

The story starts when the head gasket went, i had the head skimmed and pressure checked, i replaced the timing chain and tensioners while it was stripped down, one i had rebuilt it and had made sure the timing was spot on. I reset the pcm as it had picked up faults from the head gasket and battery going flat and reset the pcm, It started fine and ticks over perfect but after 10 secs of running it comes up with a cam sensor fault and has a glow plug fault as well, when this happens it wont rev over 2k, I have checked the timing and still ok and have replaced the cam sensor twice in case of a faulty sensor, checked the wiring back to the pcm from the cam sensor which is ok, checked the crank sensor which is working

Does anyone have any ideas and best of all a fix for this

Thanks

Must be the only one on the planet that the head gasket has given up

Did you fit injectors back in correct order?

well autodata says the crank locking pin goes in the crank sensor hole and the kit has a metal holder to replace the plastic crank shaft sensor holder the timing kit there looks like the 2.4 kit

the oil cooler went first and replaced that then 4k miles later it popped a hose, smelt it before the temp gauge moved of normal but when i had sorted it and let it cool before refilling with water, only to start it and it was pressurising the cooling system and throwing the water out the header tank

Engine Should have cut out way before any damage was done, I've had a hose split lost water and engine cuts out before any damage, same when my oil cooler dumped engine oil into the coolant, same again engine management cut it in stopped engine

3 timing pins works for me, I take it you left the cam bolts slack until you pulled the pin out tensioner
