Remapping

Postby soggz » Mon Jul 17, 2017 10:19 pm

Hi all. Got a 11 mk7. 85, so low one. My bro in law recommends me getting it remapped to a higher setting as its better, mpg, but I imagine it's how heavy your boot the s. I know nothing of this remapping thing he mentions! I had a mk5 smiley before, and to 're map' it,was to get anew road atlas at Xmas if I was lucky! So,any help would be great, please.

You must be using an aggressive ad blocker !

His ad is at the top of most pages on this forum.
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Yes. Not the answer I was looking for. Has anyone one here got any experience of remapping, what it costs, what it does,e.t.c? Don't really want to ask mr van tuner, tbh, cos he'll be in it for job, tbh,I can prob get it done cheaper,I just want to know the difference it makes...

 You probably can get it done cheaper, but then again it depends on how long you want the engine to last.

I asked vantuner questions before going to get my van remapped by him, he is a very helpful guy and knows his stuff. I have had 2 van remapped by vantuner now and wouldn't use anyone else, as he wont let you take your van until he is happy with how it is after he has worked his magic :D

You should probably have a root around the forum then, you'll find plenty of people who 'got it done cheaper' then came here for a moan about it before going to Vantuner to have it done properly. If you can't afford Vantuner, don't bother IMO. You'll also notice that Vantuner isn't a prolific poster here as he's busy working, so he probably doesn't need to sell himself to you for more work.

If you had bought a 140 in the first place you wouldn't need to worry about all this remapping nonsense :D
Hope this helps

Well my first swb was a bloody 75ps mk6
And being a frogs arse I wasn't going to spend more than a couple of cabbages on it so.a remap.was out of the question
So I thought one day I'll get a big one :P
So after years and years I've worked my way up ps wise to a 155 and now i think that really I would benefit from a 125 downmap before I get banned for going too fast or hit some c*** :P

It's a money thing...you may not have said that if you didn't know my circumstances. Hope that helped.
