TOW BAR TYPE

Postby pepepluisje » Thu Sep 21, 2017 7:01 pm

HI FOLKS

i have a mk7 limited with a deep step on the rear holding the parking sensors; i also have a mk6 which is sick which has a normal rear bumper, but has a tow bar, which was ordered and fitted by ford france; i cant recall the model but assume it is a standard item: it bolts to the pre existing fixing points which as 3 bolts per side into the sub frame;

Assuming i am able to fit a tow bar to the mk 7 with a deeper style rear step ??; would a mk 6 bar also fit the 7, assuming the chassis looks similar?? if not can anyone recommend what to fit, and would it require the rear step to be removed? or is the deep style step too deep to fit a bar on ??

The mk6 tow bar does fit the mk7 as which I did, but I can't remember if it fits with the bigger bumper
I seem to think it does but you can always take it off the mk6 and try

I'm pretty sure there's a specific one you need, check my post here:

I actually have the van I put it on up for sale at the moment. If by chance you're in Ireland, I could sell you the tow bar separate if you need it:

hi cormie

thanks for the reply, im in france actually so posting is out the question but first i will take the one of the mk 6 and offer it up as suggeted which is the logical thing to do as if i scrap the van, i would not do it with the towbar etc; i have the same mounting holes in the chassis on both from what i can See but i will slide it under and put a bolt each side and see if the ball clears the bumper when i swing it up; and take it from there, i need little use of towing but i could put a removable one on the range rover perhaps as an option ??

but thanks again
