POO45 Fault code.

Postby rsjon » Thu Sep 21, 2017 4:48 pm

Mk7 2012 2.2 125PS RWD is slipping into limp mode with MIL and Powertrain light on, generally when on high load up a hill.
Read codes: P0045 Turbo boost control solenoid open circuit.
The turbo on this van is, I believe, a VNT turbo (variable vane).
The vane angle controls the boost and the vane angle is controlled by the electronic actuator on the front of the turbo.
If this is all correct, is the fault telling me there is an electrical open circuit on the electronic actuator?
If so, does the whole turbo assembly require replacement?
Thanks,
Jon.

What Punto said...although I'm surprised she went into limp mode with that single code :? I may be wrong though....Are/were there any other codes present, historic or pending..??

Thanks for replies.
Definitely only code.
Codes read with a Snap On scanner.
Power train cog light and anti skid symbol were lit as well.
All cleared immediately but come back (along with code) after next high load drive.

If that's the case then there must be other codes...the turbo actuator...and the other two as well..!

No other codes logged.
Removed turbo and replaced actuator.
Reassembled and all is well.
No lights, no codes, no limp home.
Thanks for replies, thought you would like to know the outcome.
