Old F reg Mk3

Postby Kajeman » Thu Oct 12, 2017 3:20 pm

I have an old F reg van, it has about 1 to two months MOT left and just wondering whether to sell or scrap it. I bought a newer van (55 2.0 diesel) to take over it's job.

Specs are:
1.6 Petrol, Semi Hi Top, secure locks fitted to all doors. Ply-lined in the back and plywood bulkhead. Done about 140,000 miles.

Faults are:
No windscreen washer hose (perished) easy fix, fan belt slips and breaks quite often. The body work could do with some TLC here and there. It has been welded underneath but as far as I am aware the chassis is OK. It isn't very economical but its cheap as hell to insure.

All in all its not a bad van and certainly has done its job, it gets driven about 2 to 4 times a month on short journeys. Everything works and apart from being a little heavy to steer (no power steering) and doesn't drive too bad ok the steering gets a little vague the faster you go but there isn't any knocking or weird noises.

So just looking for some expert advise really, if I sell it what should I sell it for? Is it worth selling should I just take it to the scrap man and get it converted to a few washing machines? :)

Here is a picture of it with a man on top of it giving it a clean.

Yeah I hardly use it much, it has definitely done over 100,000 miles as when we bought it about 20 odd years ago (it had done just over 110,000 then). I think I have probably only done about 20,000 miles give or take a couple.

I will add some more photos of it a little later. I am in Dudley near Birmingham.

Depends what you want for it and how bad it is! I might be up for saving it (before anyone says it - yes I am a glutton for punishment!)

By the sound of it I'd bang it in for a test and sell it with the fail sheet so a buyer knows what it needs.
Or she could surprise you with a pass or only a minor fail
