Warning Light / loss of power ,

Postby bryan1701 » Sat Feb 10, 2018 12:53 pm

Hello
I appreciate this has been covered before but reading all the posts I am still somewhat in the dark so please be patient and as always I am grateful for your advice
Whilst driving on the motorway last December and towing a light trailer I experienced a sudden loss of power and the "coil wire" warning lamp illuminated , I turned off the ignition and restarted and all was ok again , she has continued to do this of and on for the time since , she has also been somewhat reluctant to start , in late december I took a long motorway journey and had no trouble at all , it seemS to happen when I put the engine under load but in too high a gear , I gave her a service and used diesel injection cleaner , and did a EGR valve clean using a spray product , the engine pulls well all the time with no spluttering etc . when starting it take several attempts and there is a amount of smoke as I turn her over , its white smoke , she is not using oil and fuel consumption is as normal .

2003 Connect 90ps TDCI....

Glow plug light flashing & engine going into limp mode under heavy acceleration. Clears when engine has been restarted.

No doubt following DTC's (error codes) will stored.

P0251 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control
P1211 Injector Control Pressure Higher/Lower Than Desired (engine running)

Common problem effecting 2003-2006 Connects with Delphi fuel systems.

It will either be injector fault or fuel pump. or in some cases both :!:

Injector leak of test will confirm in injectors are at fault. - If 1 or 2 are faulty, it's best to replace all 4

Check diesel filter for swarf - If present, fuel pump has worn out.
Replacement fuel pump & injectors are required.

Don't get a generic ODBII code reader/scanner...

2000-2006 Connects are NOT ODBII compliant :!:

ok , thank for the advice about the code reader , I looked through the forums and got a f-super 2 done the job
well as you say a common problem, codes I had were
P1211
P2291
P0251
P0251
So looking at a changing the van , it is too much money for a new set of injectors / pump etc going used is not worth it to me , will live with the problem until it fails

will look for a tddi next
thanks again for the advice , much appreciated
