ABS Brake bleeding with forscan

Postby Airthies » Wed Feb 14, 2018 9:35 pm

Has anyone successfully bled the ABS system with Forscan?

I've just replaced every brake line on the van so it's a full refill and bleed about to happen.
I'd be usually using IDS but it's in a huff with the VCM so I'm going to try it with forscan and a modified elm327 (after a cup of tea...)

So if it's an unknown it will be known either way later.

If your using forscan and you have a vcm2 you can use the vcm an elm 327 is not required and you will find all modules with the vcm2 no switching hs/ms can

The vcm drivers have updated you have to roll it back to the drivers that were currant for 86.04 and that's an uninstall operation

(if you just do the red tab reset on the vcm when it boots up again without Uninstalling what's on your laptop hard drive it will install the latest version and roll right past the one you want I think that someone in the know could sort it without going about it that way but I don't so that's the way got round it)

Ah there in lies the only flaw in my trusty old com, the reset button does not work
Have done a reinstall and tried the two versions of Bosch drivers but it's not liking it even the Bosch manager can't see it now where it could before.

But anyway forscan and the modified elm327 have doen the job fine.
Nice n simple

A wee drive test tomorrow before work an the Mrs can take it for it's retest!

Yep worked a treat even without the pressure bleeder it requests.

I purged the master cylinder first to get the fluid moving to the ABS pump, then just went through the bleed cycle I think 3 times just to be sure (I had 5lt to play with)
It's a doddle if you've got van jacked up on stands and wheels off

Full brake line replacement and have about 500mm of tube left from 2x 25ft(~7m) rolls of tube to do a LWB Mk7.
The main lines from master to AND were the worst getting them round the back of the engine bulkhead.
Fuel filter off, coolant bottle off. Front headlight out. But all in all not a bad job....

I replaced just the split section on my driver side front brakepipe as I looked at replacing from the abs pump and it looked a right pain to get round the back of the engine.

Might replace all the pipes in the summer when I have some time off and I'm not in such a rush to get it back on the road
