electrical circuit board in fuse box

Postby Mike85 » Fri Feb 23, 2018 2:03 pm

Hi Folks

bought a mk6 2.4 couple of weeks ago and only getting round to sorting a few things on it now, reverse lights had quit working on it so decided to check fuses under the bonnet and found this wrapped in electrical tape in the fuse box, anyone any idea what it is? looks like it takes a feed from a fuse terminal and another wire soldered onto a black wire with a red trace on the main loom.

Looks like an intelligent split charge relay..
Have you got a towbar with twin electrics,or a aux battery elsewhere on the van.?

No fancy towing electrics or second battery on this one, bit more of a look and it seems to be wired into the abs pump

It's a comparator circuit :-)

It will switch at a voltage that you set it to hence the blue box with screw, that it the pot for it.

So it could switch when the engine is on charge from running, maybe for charging tools but only when the engine is running eg.
Or it's a latching relay
That's what I think anyway :D

Sounds right so ignition on abs stays lit, engine runs and abs light goes out.

So it'll be a comparator then? :-)

Unless the abs light comes on and goes out before the engine runs in which case it's a timer relay but an old setup. :?
