Gearbox oil is specified as WSD-M2C200-C
A service refill needs 2.2 litres, from dry you need 2.4 litres.

Axle oil is specified as WSL-M2C192-A
Capacity is 3 litres.

E73898.jpg
Torque is 50Nm

E73897.jpg
Torque is 35Nm

Axle oil drain is by removing the rear cover, there is no gasket.
You need to seal it back on with a sealant to WSS-M4G320-A3 ( I can't find an equivalent but Loctite recommend 5910 for this )
The bolts are torqued to 61Nm.
There is apparently a filler/level plug.

mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

You either spent a lot of money at ford or look the specs up on the oil manufacturers websites.

Just be careful with the gearbox oil...some of them foam up and blow out through the box breather, even if they meet the required specs... Had that issue when I changed my gear oil last year, I used a good quality synthetic gear oil and most of it ended up pouring down the side of my gearbox, so I found out what the Mustang guys were using, (Some Mustangs use the MT-82 6sp gearbox)...Among others, they recommend Redline MTL, it's excellent, but expensive.

Is it deffinately 2.4L for a MT82 gearbox? Did mine at the weekend and got 3L in without it coming out of the filler hole.

3L of 'real' Ford stuff from Hendy's was £68 inc the VAT which I thought was quite reasonable given the prices the local factors are wanting. Did spend nigh on £400 on service bits there so there was a bit of discount.

MT-82 6-speed box is 2.4 liters oil capacity for the "initial fill"....2.2 liters for "service fill".

MT-75 5-speed box is only 1.3 liters oil capacity..

Hmmm, maybe it is just a fill hole and a level?

No adverse affects thus far, as much as I can tell.
