Haha i was under the engine bay for 10 minutes trying to work out how to get my hand up there but there was no room with all the pulleys and fan shrouds and belts. And i couldnt see anything up top at all.
Mine is RHD, does that mean the latch location is different to yours?
I would imagine it would mean the latch would have to be mirrored.

From 4pm to 4am this morning I fitted

Turbo and manifold
new lwb turbo exhaust front to back
pipework off a old mitsy shogun
permanently opened up my EGR
rerouted oil breather
tapped in a new 1/4 npt oil feed to the sump
went straight induction through a pod filter, got rid of the airbox

Boys, my van whistles!

Welded in another patch on the windscreen pillar. A couple more to do then should be ready for new windscreen.

Stuck new battery in and started her up for the first time in a year... https://youtu.be/viIL-YvPVoM

Also found some other rusty patches that'll need cutting out... Sigh!

Fitted some new interior lights in the camper, and tried to get the gas fridge to work better by soaking the jet in white vinegar. It cleaned the jet, but need to buy some more gas before I can test it. Doh!

My engine wouldn't run properly and after doing a tank and filter bypass and running straight from a fuel can I decided the IP was the problem.

So I took my injection pump off and fitted another one, after an hour or so not starting I took that injection pump off and fitted yet another, and finally got her running properly again, curiously the good 3rd pump that I got from a mate for £15 is a '145' so I may end up removing it again and keeping it for a turbo project.

But I will pull the two duff pumps apart and see what the problems are, the first one I suspect the vanes in the fuel pump are gummed up, the second one could be anything, but hopefully I can at least make a good one from the two if they both cannot be fixed, I just need to remember where I stashed my spare VE pump seals.

Welded another bit on the bottom of the pillar. Just a small hole on the top to do and then it's finished!

Removed the scuttle panel & gave underneath a good clean, no rust present so very pleased with that!

First spin out with turbo today. Felt good but pretty sure shes gagging for fuel, no smoke whatsoever. Also needed fuel pipe clips so went to halfords, got my clips and on the way back noticed my rear exhaust was on the floor nearly, back to halfords for a new shackle!

finn_mccool,hi!
I look at your welded seam and cry ...
Learn how to make a beautiful and durable weld seam.
More welding current, stronger welding seam.
To understand this rule, it took me several years.
I did not have a teacher.
On this photo the seam of thin sheet steel is 0.8 mm.

On Friday I took from the workshop a block of cylinders and crankshaft FT 2,5 D.
The block is bored under the pistons +0.65 mm, crankshaft under -0.25 mm.
Today I washed and cleaned the cylinder block for assembly.

Cherniy,

It's the best I can do with what I've got. The existing metal on the van is very thin and melts away very easily.

I thought it was a decent fix

When you do something to your van and you're happy to know it's not going to fall appart before next MOT it's a good job in my eyes.
