Ok :!:

So the Pats light simply stops it's "I am immobilised" blink and simply goes out with no "3 seconds on" when ignition is turned on :?: Yes :?:

Now, if you leave the ignition on for at least a minute, does the PATS light put out a blinking code :?: (pun intended  )

Either lack of supply from ign. (blown fuse) or faulty PATS unit :!: :(

Have you checked all the fuses :?: including the ones next to the battery :?:

Yep checked all fuess and fuseable links by battery...... all ok

So should I just book it into the ford dealer and pay the ransom or is there another way ??

 Disconnect the battery and unplug the PATS unit completely over night and try it again the next day :!:

Bit of an update.....

Put a new battery on it yesterday (just in case) .... no different.

Ordered a replacement pats module (which arrives today) I'll plug that in and see if I get a flash code or summat :|

I'll keep you posted

Re: 2.5 Di Turbo - Wont turn over * updated * fault code 31

Postby AndyG » Sun Mar 02, 2008 1:35 am

8)
That does tell us that the PATS was indeed faulty :!:

Problem now is, it'll need programming up, so that the codes match :!: :(

Hence the code 3 1 = Code transmission error between ECU and PATS module :!:

Cables on OK :?:

 Perhaps a mobile Auto locksmith can sort it

Needs the ECU programmed to the PATS and possibly the keys programmed.

Could be a main dealer job

Another update.....

ITS FIXED !!!!!

No thanks to the useless main dealer....but thanks in part to this forum 8)

In the end I sent the ECU to http://www.bluestreak.co.uk/ and for 50 quid plus carriage they "decoded" the ecu and removed the PATS

They turned it round in 72 hours and were totally professional.... top service 8)

Had to disconnect the pats unit and bypass the start inhibitor relay and she fired right up 8)
