Engine wont run when cold

Postby Bully » Sat Mar 29, 2008 12:44 am

I have s plate ex bt 120swb transit 2.5

Problem is engine will not run when cold. I can start it but then it just cuts out! Runs as normal when warm!

Have checked fuel and air filters etc and have had the injectors checked out....all ok. It has been sugested that it might be the pump?

Any sugestions would be helpfull.

cheers.

Defective cold start, will it run once you've sat with with you foot on the throttle for a couple of minutes.

Well I've had many Mk5s now and every single one has been the same. I'd just live with it if I was you.

I had this on my R reg Di. I borrowed the butterfly link of it for my other Di, then it wouldn't even run.

(Butterfly closed).

I strapped the butterfly open, now it idles almost from cold, worth a try?

I have a 2002 125 Hp with the same problem. I´m getting used to it because it has the problem since i´m driving this vehicle (2004). Of course, Ford dealers allways tell me i´m the only one with this problem. Would be nice to now if there´s somebody around who has the problem solved. At first i thought it would be engine oil with the wrong viscosity, but after changing the oil it did not improve.

My 97 R mk5 80swb is the same, but a little pressure on the gas pedal for 10 seconds sorts it.
