side door wont open

Postby paul0li » Sat Mar 28, 2009 1:31 pm

Hi. I've got a '51 plate T260. The side door is double locked and wont open. Fuse is ok, I've disconnected the wires and connected locking mech directly to same wires to bypass the contact plate on the door, I've tried swapping red/white with red/black then double locking door to see if this opens it. I'm now stuck, reckon solenoid must be buggered but how do i open the door to remove it. please help....

Can you not remove the ply and pull the cable by hand?

I've took door card off and pulled cable. I've stuck a big screwdriver in the little yellow hole and turned it but its double locked so wont release door. thanks for suggestion though. Next please...

It'll be dirt/corrosion on the three door contacts. My MK6 did it once and thankfully decided to open one day and I cleaned the contacts and kept them clean. Not sure how you'd go about opening it in your case though, maybe spray some wd40 type stuff at it?

Thanks. I've disconnected the wires and linked out the door contacts but still no joy. Guess i'll have to get the grinder out and cut it open(if it stops raining long enough)

try pushing the door with ur foot from the outside just under the handle and pressing the blue button on the fob, mine does this but its due to having pallets sliding and hitting the sidedoor.

my 350 does it all the time pull the cable on the inside and get someone to bounce on the outside it always comes open eventually there is a knack to pulling the handle sharply and not denting the door it dont help having the bottom roller broken

if you remove plug from 3 pin contact to the motor, of the motor side, think it is red black and green wires, you can swap or put a link wire in to swap 2 of the wires, of the top of me head think its red and green. when swapped press the fob to lock or unlock and it should open.
at least thats how i did my mates a couple of times when it deadlocked and wouldn't open, then a second hand motor/lock fitted and it was fine.

and when the doors open you can check continuity of the 3 pin connection on door side and check power supply from van side, to rule themk out.

Maybe the door has dropped off the contacts, try levering the rear of the door up to make contact with the plate perhaps?

the motor part is the bottom of the lock where the 3 wires go to, can remove that from inside.
