hi, been to ford dealer today and ordered both belts, are there only 2 belts on this engine, also the tensioner pulley is flapping about presumably this is why the belt has snapped, so looks like i will have to order one monday, the snapped belt only seems to drive the power steering why would this cause the van to overheat, also does anyone have a diagram so i know what im letting myself in for, and is it a pig of a job replacing the belt and tensioner pulley, regards, Mick.

This belt drives the water pump too :!: A spline goes from the PAS pump to the water pump.

can be a little awkward to get at, need to loosen off the egr pipe to get decent access to the belt and get the tensioner on

update, got the old tensioner of today not as easy as i thought, what i would like to know is it false economy to just replace the pulley rather than the full tensioner, also im gonna change the alternator belt, is this a tensioner arrangement or does the alternator slide for adjustment, cheers, mick.

The tensioner is easy, just do as jacko says and take off the egr support bracket and gently bend the pipe out the way of the bolt holding the tensioner on

The alternator belt is a stretchy belt (presuming you havent got A/C) cut the old one off then use the tool that comes with the new belt to feed it on :!:

Use a small pry bar instead of a big one to bend it :)
