How to remove transit ignition barrel

On a 1996 Mk5 Transit

Need the keycutting but the key is so damaged its got no numbers and i've been told its on the barrel as well

Does it matter that the key does not have the plastic bit on it no more?
Just a bit of metal.

What he's saying is if you post a clear pic of the end of the key he can read the bumps in the metal and give you the code from that
