My 6006 Radio/CD and Parrot has died.

Postby mountaintiger » Tue Aug 18, 2009 7:59 pm

Can anyone help? I have a newish Ford Transit (bought new and ive had it 8 months) with the 6006 Radio/CD. Problem is it has stopped working properly. The time appears on it but when I try to change radio to cd or other similar functions it does not work. There is no sound output and also the parrot voice system does not work either. When pushing some of the buttons it doesnt seem to want to respond, either quickly or not at all. In the 20 or so times I have driven the van since the problem, on one occassion it did come back to life and thought it had fixed itself (but forgot to check the parrott). Next time in the van the Radio/Cd 'died' again...

Ive read the other posts on here about the 6006 being a bit tempermental and wondered if there is a quick fix I can do myself (cant these be rebooted like Windows Vista) or am i better getting it fixed/replaced under warranty cos the thing has just had it?

Thanks in advance for any repsonses.

Simple things first, check all the fuses, and if its not that get it in for warranty

Hi
Ake is right , get it in under warranty.
But you MAY want to try.... (get the code first !) disconnecting from power for 30 minutes +.
I disconnected mine (6006e) & took it indoors for the night, next morning , good as gold !

Hi Bob
No idea, my display started flashing, sound all o.k. just the display playing up. I phoned a radio repair shop in Brighton (no comments thanks ), The guy said try disconnecting it for 30 mins+ and if its still a problem call me back. I didn't have to :D , so give it a go !.

As long as you have the code you could just disconnect the battery rather than have to take the stereo out :)

Now FIXED Re: My 6006 Radio/CD and Parrot has died.

Postby mountaintiger » Wed Aug 19, 2009 11:41 am

Thanks Ake

I took the 15amp fuse out which appeared to have nothing wrong with it. Replaced it anyway with same 15 amp fuse for Front fog lights. Radio/CD came on and asked for code. It now works perfectly (for now) with Parrot as well. Put the fuse that was for the radio/cd into the fog lamps and they also work ok. Not too sure exactly what had happended but seems that a windows Vista style reboot did the trick. Thanks for all responses....... :D
