WHEEL NUT TORQUE SETTING'S PLEASE??

Postby DINGLE » Fri Sep 25, 2009 3:45 pm

Hi just a quicky, done a search but found nothing, my mate's just asked me for the recomended torque settings on his mk2 twin wheel pick up [horsebox] as they keep workin loose, I suspect there's a problem with the thread's but the correct torque would be a startin point, thanks in advance

f'in tight!

I would say 140 - 150 ft/lb. I used to do my nuts up ( ) to the torque specified in haynes (123 ft/lbs) and they kept working loose. This is on a 6 studder mk5, but I believe the threads are the same (except the mk2 has left hand ones on one side)

Funny you should say that mate, that's exactly what i told him, FT [F*ckin tight], lol, but he's a bit of a worrier and wanted some proper stats, I only just realised I put this in wrong section, should be in mk1/2 section, sorry, thanks for that info, i guessed between 120-140 myself, so anywhere around there would be a safe bet i rekon eh, I've always done mine to my own discretion and never had a problem tho, eperience is better than a torque wrench, lol

To be honest... I get em as tight as I can by hand, then jump on the wheel brace! I have a bar that I stick on the end of the brace to get em undone again
