Van locking then unlocking

Postby DMSTransit » Sat Mar 13, 2010 1:43 pm

Hi all, This is the first time for me although I have read many before.
I have a 2003 MWB high top and I am having problems locking it.
The story so far:
Interior door lights staying on when the doors are shut, also the central locking thinks there is a door open so unlocking straight away. This is both with the key and the fob, I have read about the black door pin switch on the side load door and have fiddled with it but nothing happening. I have been to see a friend of mine who has checked all motors in the doors, and tried a different central security module but still no joy. If I leave the main headlights on and then open the door the light on buzzer is sounding like a loose connection very on and off and is better when its cleared its throat so to speak, not sure if this is connected though. Has anyone got any advice they could help me with please please please, currently blocking van in every night.

with the fob, press the lock button twice then quickly press the button to open rear doors only.
if the front doors are now locked and rear doors open you know theres no problem with the front doors, if front doors still wont lock its one of the front doors that has a problem.

As winterheating has said, clean the contacts on the side loading door with some fine wet and dry or emery paper.

Yeh as ake said above this is quite common so ive been told, ive had 3 tranys now 2 mk6's and a mk7 and i've had this on all of them, open the main rear door, take off the internal handle and ply cover, where the cross beam runs across the door, behind that is the wiring loom usually one of those wires breaks, solder it back together and its happy days, hope this helps.... :?

had the same with my mk6. would be woken on windy nights by the van indicaters flashing and the sound of doors locking and unlocking as the van rocked in the wind !! :(
turned out to be a broken wire in the rear doors to the door lock. easy fix, cut and spliced bound with elecy tape. no more sleepless nights :D
