Postby Campervanman » Thu Jul 29, 2010 7:34 pm

Over the last winter I converted a Transit 15 seat minibus into a 4 berth camper van. Its been reclassified by the DVLA and I thought you might like to see it !

Some conversion photo's are stored here :-

Nice job - is that your first?? :D

I like the modern look and the shiny cupboards (we went for shiny cupboards too)

Hi it looks lovely. How did you support the top bunk, ie what did you have on the sides to support the weight? Mothership

that looks really good.
couple of questions about the solar - is it just glued on? how did you get the cabling through the roof? what kind of power is that one? where did you get it from? .....and is that the solar regulator (pic with looks like voltmeter/ameter)?
oh one more
how effective is it at keeping your battery charged up?

have a good holiday.

thanks

Hi,

Just back from touring around France with the family, the van worked well. I'll try and answer the couple of questions asked :-

1) The top bed rails are 3mm thick aluminum angle, ie 34*34 3mm thick. It is attacked to the side of the van using rivets and Sikaflex.
2) The solar panel is a 60w panel and keeps the battery nicely charged for a day or so (24 hrs) under full usage, but I do have mains hook up and a Sterling B2Battery charger to supplement this.
